Vocabulary Activity- The vocabulary activity will allow students to work in different groups. Students will also complete a graphic organizer with Economic terms.
T-Chart Graphic Organizer- The students will use the graphic organizer while watching the documentary film. The graphic organizer will help students note the issues affecting homeless children and their families. Students will be able to use the t-chart while writing their reflection.
Multiple Intelligence Activities- Visual students will be able to see the issues affecting homeless youth by watching a documentary film. Auditory learners will benefit from class discussions, numeric learners from being in charge of the budget and Intrapersonal learners from reading the article.
Choice Activity- Students will have the opportunity to create their own homeless shelter by using minecraft. The homeless shelter can be in any shape, material or color. Students are encouraged to think outside the box.
Differentiation- ELL and IEP students will be provided with an article that has specific sentences highlighted. Students will be encouraged to concentrate on specific paragraphs.
